Frequently Asked Questions

Last updated: May 2026

What does dmcheck do?

dmcheck checks whether a keyword is available across multiple top-level domains. Results are fetched with WHOIS and RDAP and shown as they arrive, so you do not need to wait for every TLD to finish.

Is dmcheck free?

Yes. dmcheck is free to use and does not require registration.

Why can a result be unknown?

Some registries respond slowly, rate-limit requests, or return incomplete WHOIS/RDAP data. Unknown means dmcheck could not confirm the status from the available registry response.

Is an available result guaranteed?

No. Availability data can lag behind registrar checkout systems, and some domains may require special eligibility or be reserved by the registry. Registrar prices are reference first-year prices and final checkout details are confirmed by the registrar.

Where do registrar prices come from?

Registrar price comparisons come from a short-lived local configuration based on registrar pricing pages. Prices are reference first-year registration prices and may not include premium names, taxes, or checkout fees.

Which TLDs are checked?

The default set includes common TLDs such as .com, .ai, .io, .org, .net, .app, .dev, and more. You can edit the TLD list before searching and add one TLD per line.

Where does the data come from?

Domain status queries are sent to public WHOIS and RDAP registry services. Registered domain details may include registrar, dates, DNS servers, status codes, and raw WHOIS data when available.

How does caching work?

Registered and reserved domains can be cached to make repeat searches faster. Available domains are better treated as live results because their status can change quickly.

When is the screenshot preview loaded?

The screenshot and favicon previews are optional and load only after you click the screenshot button in a registered domain's detail panel. Those requests are sent to screenshot.domains and favicon.im.

Do you log my queries?

dmcheck does not store query keywords linked to user identity. Server logs are used for troubleshooting, and anonymous analytics may be used to understand traffic.

Do you offer an API?

There is no public API at the moment.
